New Years Eve,

Missing in action over the holidays, living life and getting our swag but the boys at InternetPopular were not going to leave you hanging on the day before the future. 2009. 2009 think about it, and think about where you are at and where you can go. The future is ahead of you just the same way that it is ahead of us.

So the question I have for you is, are you ready for what is next? Stay tuned and I guess we’ll find out.

Music Monday: 28 Days Of Christmas Special

by Bryce

The New Fall Out Boy Album came out last week and was on heavy rotation on my the iTunes over the weekend. The album is good for what it is; a happy rock album that isn’t trying to be artsy or overly political. It’s just a bunch of guys making some music that contain a happy chorus that you can nod your head too. The lyrics on this album like every Fall Out Boy CD, is the best part of it. Listen to these 3 songs and I’m sure you can agree that this is one album that is worth buying this Christmas.

Next Week:Christmas!

28 Days of Christmas

Monday, December 15, 2008 by Bryce

Who watches the Watchmen? You’re going to hear that a lot in the new year. The Watchmen is one of the most talked about movies ever since it was announced it was being made. There is a lot of fans of this movie and it hasn’t even come out yet. Why? Because the Graphic Novel that it is based off of is arguably discussed as the greatest comic book to ever be made.

This year you should get your loved ones ahead of the curve and give The Watchmen to anyone on your list. It doesn’t matter who you have to buy for, Mom, Dad, Boy Friend, Girl Friend any body and everyone can enjoy this book. It has something about it that will always blow someone you know away. It is way beyond anything that the film will offer you in the coming year and it is honestly one of the best things that you can give to anyone who can read.

So this Christmas give The Watchmen to those that don’t have it yet or know about it. That way later on when the movie comes out and people ask you “who watches the Watchmen?” you can reply “I do…but I read about them first.”

Music Monday

by Bryce

Ten days till Christmas time and things are starting to pop at InternetPopular. We have a full schedule of new time killers for you coming up this week. The new Kings of the Internet episode is coming, this week we took a look at the video game awards that were on spike last night (I predicted it all wrong) and we also talk about solving the economic crisis using the movie box office. We are still continuing are 28 Days to Christmas countdown. 10 more days and ten more gifts to get people, look through some of the older posts to see what is hot this Christmas. We also have the second part of What’s The Worst That Can Happen? Comic Book this Wednesday. Find out what happens when you think nothing bad will happen. Finally we are still putting up the other random treats on the site that you might be use to be by now, like Music Monday. Which is going to start right now…

Okay so this week we have some music for you guys that is not Christmas music which, truth be told is enough of a reason to give it a play. We are going to start off with some J-Kwon and Joel Madden with No More Cryin’. This is one of those rock/rap mash ups that failed completely at the time of release. But now that the Rap/Rock era is over you can go back and appreciate the song. Kind of a mellow song but it’s okay because it’s fucking cold where I am at right now and that makes all songs mellow to me.

Next up Hunting for Witches by The Bloc Party. This was off there last CD and is probably one of the better new Bloc Party songs. This version of the song I’ll put up though is the RAC remix. Bloc Party has a some of the best remixes coming out right now and are almost actually better when there songs are not on there own album. Here take a listen.

Last one to start you up this Monday is TV on the Radio. These guys are cool if you don’t know yet. I’ll put up Staring at the Sun for you guys to check out because it is a great song with a dope music video. Check them out and then buy there CD as soon as you can.

And that will do it. This is the start of the week and we are 10 days away from Christmas which means everyone is going to be going a little crazy this time of year. Just remember that we only have to do this once a year and if you get to stressed take a break, log on to the internet, and kick back with the random filings here at InternetPopular.

28 Days of Christmas

Sunday, December 14, 2008 by Bryce

It’s time to class yourself up internet. It’s time for a little fashion tip from the crew here at InternetPopular. It’s time for the 28 days of Christmas gift of the day and today it’s time for The Tie.

Now hold on, I know what you are thinking; Who the fuck wants a tie for Christmas? The answer should be you. You want a tie for Christmas. Ties get the shit end of the stick sometimes because old people wear them but the reality of it is that Ties are due for a comeback and you can be on the ground floor of that if you ask for one this Christmas. Don’t go and ask for anything to crazy though, start with just a plain black tie. The black tie is a simple piece of cloth that when added to a collard shirt makes you look bad ass. Check out some of these pictures to see how you are suppose to wear a tie and then put one on your Christmas list ASAP.

Ties can be bought any where they sell nice clothing.

28 Days of Christmas

Thursday, December 11, 2008 by Bryce

Function and fun the two things you need in a gift for it to be a sure fire hit. Combo gifts are always a great idea, coffee and coffee cup? Moms love it. Gloves and scarf? Perfect double assault on grandma. Video Game and extra controller? Kids are calling you Santa Claus and are cleaning your sidewalk year round. This ear though you should take it up a notch, get to a whole new level of function and fun with Transformers and iPod.

It was only a matter of time before someone combined the two greatest technological advances of the last 30 years together into one single technological blessing. This year unleash this marvel upon the iPod wearer in your family, the Rumble and Frenzy (american names) iPod earphones.

These things actually bring the music to your ear and they can also transform from simple circle to little robot. This is geek and music freak covered in one shot. Fun to play with and Functional to get those sweet sound waves into your ear.

Pick them up at your local import or comic book store today.

28 Days of Christmas - Hasbro's Mighty Muggs

Wednesday, December 10, 2008 by Kim

If you have someone in your life that loves Star Wars, Marvel, G.I.Joe, or Indiana Jones, you'll have something to buy for them.

Mighty Muggs are the JRPG equivalent of these immensely popular franchises and make the perfect addition to any desk, living room, or gaming area. They're cute, they're hip, and there are about a hundred to choose from.

The most robust franchise that is represented would have to be Star Wars with characters from both trilogies as well as the Clone Wars and other Star Wars spinoffs. The 2nd and perhaps most popular IP to choose from would have to be the Marvel line. It's my personal favorite and they've done a pretty good job of representing all the great characters Marvel has unleashed over the years. Indiana Jones? Some people will love them but I don't think they're all that great.

The big seller this Christmas will be the G.I. Joe line of figures. They just hit store shelves last week and are already selling out everywhere. I managed to grab myself a Snake Eyes but I'm guessing I'm going to have to wait awhile to find a Cobra Commander to add to the collection.

Mighty Muggs are available at multiple retailers and can retail from $10 to anywhere up to $30. Rarity causes fluctuations but getting that exact one you want is oh so perfect.

Men are allowed to idolize two things: Women and Bruce Lee. You can buy a blow up doll and that would attribute to your love of women (even if it’s sad and lonely) or you can buy a Bruce Lee action figure and still be considered a man. That being said I don’t recommend buying a Blow Up Doll for anyone on Christmas because that makes for a awkward night for anyone that the person receiving the gift lives with. I do recommend a Bruce Lee action figure though, more specifically the 1/6th Bruce Lee Game Of Death figure from enter bay.

This martial artist toy is the only Bruce Lee toy you will ever need thanks to its 7 different hand sets, two different interchangeable eyes and hair. Plus it’s Bruce in his kick ass suit from Game Of Death. What more could you ask for? Well for those that don’t like to take there toys of the box there is the sweet packaging that the toy comes in. This is seriously the only toy that a man should own because it kicks the shit out of every other toy. Ever.

Buy it online today.

28 Days of Christmas

This Christmas it’s time to catch up with the Ultimates. Its been a long time since the first issue of Ultimates came out in 2002 but the Mark Millar Bryan Hitch run on the book finished this year and now it’s time for you to get all caught up. The book, for those that don’t know is the re-imagining of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor in the modern world, with a very realistic look at how they would operate in current social climates. What would a man lost in world war two feel about society today? Can you call yourself a god and not be looked at like you are crazy? If you had all the money in the world how often would you be sober? These are the types of questions that get brought up in the book and it makes for one of the best comic books that you will ever read.

All the Millar/Hitch issues have been collected into two hardcover books from Marvel comics and are the best way to read this story. They are available through Chapters or through your Local Comic Book Store. Pick them up this year for the Action Movie Lover or Comic Book Noob on your list.

Music Monday

by Bryce

Welcome to the first day of a new week. At InternetPopular Mondays mean Music Monday and back to work, two things that go hand and hand. A couple songs is a good way to start yourself up for the week, helps you to get into work mode. Drive and determination can go a long way to making your week a breeze, so lets see what we got this week for you guys.

First song is a remix of This Love by Maroon 5. It’s remixed by Kanye West and John Legend and has some added funk on the track for you soul. This is one of those songs that anyone can enjoy because everyone is able to understand it. Great song and a good remix, check it out.

Next on the docket is Lil Wayne with Let the Beat Build. It’s a simple beat that highlights Lil Waynes beastly rhymes. The beat keeps looping and Lil Wayne just keeps getting better and better as it goes on and on, this is probably the best Lil Wayne song that was off of The Carter III.

Lastly instead of a serious song lets play something funny. Adam Sandberg has a band called Lonely Island and they have a new CD coming out called Incredibad. First single is Jizz in my Pants and it’s pretty funny shit. Put a smile on your face this week and get going.

28 Days of Christmas - The Gift of The Simpsons

by Kim

Let's face it. The economy sucks right now and there's a good chance you don't have a ton of money to spend on that special someone in your life. You want to get them a present that is going to stand the test of time and bring enough joy into their heart that they'll always remember that you gave them that present. We have the perfect gift for you!

Today's 28 Days of Christmas present is the Simpsons seasons on DVD. No we're not talking about the new ones that are selling for around $45. We're talking about the first 6 seasons which are selling for under $20!

Yes, the first few seasons are pretty horrible. The animation is bad, Homer has a different voice, and Bart says stupid shit like "Don't have a cow man," but you can't deny that they hold a special place in any fans heart. It's The Simpsons!

Trust us, we're experts on the subject of gift giving and if you're trying to appease someones thirst for opening presents, you can't go wrong with a couple seasons of The Simpsons.

Jack Black is Jesus Christ

by Bryce

Jack Black plays Jesus Christ in the new Funny or Die exclusive Prop 8: The Musical. Now for those that don't know, Proposition 8 is a law in California that bans gay marriage. It passed on Election Day by a narrow margin but is still being opposed by those that want gay marriage to be legal in California. What does this all have to do with Jack Black playing Jesus? Well, watch the Prop 8 Musical and see Jack become Jesus Christ. Lots of other famous people in the musical as well AND as always NPH says the day.

See more Jack Black videos at Funny or Die

Oh and you probably already guessed it but the Church is fucking pissed at Jack Black.

Must Own CD: Jay Z The Black Album

by Bryce

Once in awhile a album comes out from a artist that instantaneously because I must have for everyone who enjoys music. They are few and far between and usually go on to become landmark points of pop culture history. I like to call these albums the Must Own. Today on InternetPopular we are going to look at one of these Must Own albums. We are going to look at The Black Album by Jay Z.

The Black Album was suppose to be the end of Jay Z. He was leaving the music business to be the CEO of Def Jam records. Of course real life never works out the way that you plan and eventually Jay Z came back and continues to make music to this day. The Black Album wasn’t the end like people were lead on to believe but it did show the world who Jay Z was and what he was capable of.

Think about it this way, Jay Z went into making the Black Album as his last album. He thought he was done and he put everything he had into the album. He found the best beats he could by using producers like Timberland, Kanye West, Just Blaze, The Neptunes, and Rick Ruben. He created his final vision for people to remember him by through his creative verses. He made a final good bye album that goes through all the emotions of what it really means to say good bye.

The album is ridden with instant classics like Encore, Change Clothes, Dirt Off My Shoulders and the infamous 99 Problems. Those were the big singles off the album but when you listen to the actual dice in full the two most important tracks are Dec 4th and My First song. Dec 4th is the second track after the Interlude and it is about the rise of Jay Z. From cradle to the microphone, Jay Z rhymes us through his life before the spot light. He tells you about his struggles to make it out of the hardships that he was born into and into what he feels is his true calling. My First Song comes at the end of the album and gives insight into how Jay Z thinks. The song begins with a voice over from the late Notorious B.I.G. and moves into rhymes about the struggles of the music business. Keeping your head above what everyone is telling you to do and a understanding of staying true to your own music and your own life. That’s what Jay Z did for The Black Album.

The Black Album stands out from the rest of the Jay Z catalogue due to the epic nature of the disc. A retirement album is not something that you see often in a industry that is always pushing for the next big fad from its artists. Very few people could get away with doing something like this and even fewer could actually make a good album out of it. Jay Z might be one of the only few people in the history of the music industry that will ever even attempt this and succeed. That is what makes The Black Album a must own. It is a amazing CD that can be viewed as something more.

If you don’t own this album yet, go out and buy it so you can own it.

28 Days of Christmas

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 by Bryce

Kanye West is big into fashion. He is also big into himself. Nike wants to combine and give us the Air Yeezy. Now these haven’t officially been released but you can find them on the internet. This is the kind fo Christmas gift you give to someone who is extremely hard to shop for and who is going to buy you gold bricks in return. The Yeezys are still in line to come out (supposedly) so you can also write a I.O.U. if you get to broke this Christmas.

But I have to say one thing, these shoes are actually really fucking cool…if they are real.

Track of the Day: Athlete - Tokyo

by Kim

Before I get out of here and take over the world, I should give you some music to listen to. This song became one of my personal favorites in a very strange way. A game that goes by the name of Audiosurf hit Steam and I had absolutely no clue what it was. Knowing that YouTube has absolutely everything, I decided to start there.

It took about 20 minutes after perusing videos of girls dancing and dudes fighting on the street, I finally found what I was looking for by typing "Audiosurf" into the search field. Here's the song I found being played in Audiosurf.

If you haven't bought Audiosurf, you should go do so now. The game is super cheap and is one of the greatest times you can have on your PC.

Mario Kart Love Song

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is Bryce's brother featured in this amazing YouTube video. Mario Kart and Love, you can't really have a better combination.

Watch and play this for the family at Christmas - They'll stop thinking you're creepy and might actually ask you what this thing called "Mario Kart" is.

All joking aside, this song is pretty awesome. Someone give this dude a record deal.

28 Days of Christmas

by Bryce

Some people are smart and they ask for books for Christmas. I’m one of those people. I find books to be of great entertainment especially when they are filled with pictures and. Must haves this year are art books because they are shallow on the word part of books. This year I’m looking at some top notch Graffiti books that are awesome to have a round the house when people are over.

These Graffiti books are the type of books that you pick up for something to keep you occupied while you are waiting for someone to get ready and you end up holding the other people up because you want to flip through it all. You can’t put them down thanks to the high quality photos that line the pages of these books. But the best part about these books though is the art. You can’t go wrong looking at a run down wall that has been tagged by one of the best.

Give this gift to the Hip Hop kid in your life or for the artist that likes to zone out with pretty pictures.

It's not for everyone but if you want a song that won't give your girlfriend headache - check out "We Are Birds" from Brighten's "Early Love" EP (Available on iTunes).

The Nautica was able to get away from the pirates but only by a hair. At one point, one of the skiffs was a mere 300 yards away and shooting rifle shots at the boat. No one was hurt and The Nautica was able to arrive on time in Salala Oman on Monday morning. Pirates they are real and they are out there.

Kings of the Internet: Episode 22 - Jim Has a Drinking Problem

by Kim

Kings of the Internet - The InternetPopular.com Podcast: Episode 22 - Jim Has a Drinking Problem

Hosts: Kim Fidler, Bryce Wong, Jim Barry

Intro Song: Cobra Starship - Smile for the Papparazzi
Featured Song: Nick Maynard- Open The Blast Doors!
Outro Song: Kanye West - Robocop

I totally woke up late for this episode but like the bad ass mofo that I am, I totally brought it. Ok, Jim and Bryce kind of make fun of me the whole show but I get back at Jim by reading out his Christmas list hence revealing that he wants crabs, beer, rum, and "mircosoft points" for Christmas.

This is the other shit we talked about:

- Renting games for $10 when they only cost $30
- Hey! We have a new format that we started last week

28 Days of Christmas

by Bryce

Most music consumption is done digitally now a day so what do you do for that music lover on your list? Buy him a CD? Only if he is 5. Nope the new hot ticket for music geeks this year is a old ticket, it’s the LP. Over the last couple of years LP’s are becoming the new drug of choice for the hardcore music fans. They are everything that they want them to be; big, in your face, and musically elite. Nothing will impress the beat head on your Christmas list more then the new Kanye West Album on LP. Got a die hard Metallica fan that already has all the t-shirts on your list? Double LP Death Magnetica will blow his mind. Even old hippies will appreciate a new copy of Jimi Hendrix since they lost there last one 40 years ago. Best thing is that you can get LP’s at all your major Music Stores again like HMV and Virgin Mega Store.

With playing the LP’s you don’t have to go to pawn shop for a record player, nope players are making a come back. I recommend this one.

The Audio-Technica AT-PL120 Professional Direct Drive has everything you need in a turntable. 3 speeds 33, 45 or 78 RPM. It easily connects to your computer thanks to a internal stereo phono pre-amplifier. And it has both forward and reverse functions incase you want to listen to your music backwards for hidden messages. The best thing about it though is the fact that it plays records and that right there makes it cool.

So this Christmas I recommend some albums and a record player for the music geek on your list.
